April 26th 2026 Sunday The Narrow Path: Discernment on the Journey

Theme: God’s Wisdom in Contrast

I. The Nature of the Journey

To walk with God is to move through a world of constant intersection. We are travelers on a “journey,” but without the compass of Divine Wisdom, we often mistake the scenery for the destination. God’s wisdom is not merely “knowing more”; it is the spiritual sight required to navigate the complexities of the heart.

Key Scripture: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

II. Good vs. Evil: The Root of Intent

The world often defines “good” as what is pleasant and “evil” as what is painful. However, God’s wisdom reveals a deeper distinction:

Wisdom teaches us that something may feel good but lead to evil, while a difficult trial may produce the “good” fruit of endurance. Discernment is the ability to see the harvest before the seed is even planted.

III. Light vs. Dark: The Clarity of Truth

While Good and Evil speak to the quality of our actions, Light and Dark speak to our environment and vision.

Walking in the light doesn’t mean the path is always easy; it means the path is visible. We no longer have to guess at the direction of our lives because the Word serves as a lamp to our feet.

IV. Navigating the Difference

The “Journey” requires two specific responses to God’s wisdom:

  1. Surrender of Perspective: Acknowledging that our human eyes often see “shadows” as “substance.” We must ask for the Holy Spirit to illuminate the truth.
  2. Decisive Action: Once the light reveals the path, wisdom demands we walk in it. To see the light but stay in the dark is the greatest tragedy of the traveler.

V. Closing Prayer

Lord, grant us the wisdom that comes only from Above. Open our eyes to see the subtle line between what is merely “better” and what is truly “Good.” Shine Your light into the dark corners of our journey, that we may walk with steady feet and a pure heart. Lead us not by our own logic, but by Your eternal Truth. Amen.
