The Shield of Faith

We are exploring how the theological mission of God’s Grace Mission—specifically the concept of the “Shield of Faith”—translates into a daily lived experience.

When the ministry focuses on the Cross as a shield or a “protection,” it shifts the daily mindset from one of fear and striving to one of security and rest. Here is how that focus typically transforms a person’s daily life:

1. The Shift from Striving to Resting

If the core belief is unmerited favor, the “Shield of Faith” reminds you daily that your standing with God isn’t based on your performance.

2. Emotional Resilience in a “Broken World”

The mission mentions a “broken world.” A focus on the Shield of Faith doesn’t mean life becomes easy; it means you have a spiritual “buffer” against despair.

3. Boldness in Sharing (Unmerited Favor)

If you feel protected by Grace, you become less protective of your own resources, time, and ego.

4. Mental Peace (The “Shield of Faith”)

In many traditions, the “Cross of Protection” is a literal prayerful focus used to block out intrusive thoughts of shame or condemnation.

A Supportive Reflection:

To live under a “Shield of Faith” is to stop looking at your own hands to see if they are clean enough, and instead look at the Shield to see that the work is already done. It turns a life of defense (trying to survive) into a life of offense (sharing love because you are already safe).

How has this specific focus on protection changed the way you handle your most stressful moments during the day?
