Prayer of the Day: The Victory of Completion

Scripture Reference: John 19:30

“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”

Reflection

In Greek, the word Jesus spoke was “Tetelestai.” This wasn’t a cry of defeat or a sigh of exhaustion; it was a triumphant shout of a debt being paid in full. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He meant that the barrier between us and God was permanently removed. The work of salvation is complete—there is nothing more you need to add to it, and nothing you can do to earn it. It is a gift of pure, unadulterated grace.

Today’s Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We come before You today with hearts full of gratitude for the finished work of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You that we no longer have to strive for our worth or struggle to earn Your favor.

Lord, when we feel overwhelmed by our mistakes or the weight of the world, remind us of that single, powerful phrase: “It is finished.” Help us to rest in the assurance that our past is forgiven, our present is held in Your hands, and our future is secured in Your glory.

May Your grace empower us today to walk in freedom. Let us live not for victory, but from the victory already won at the Cross. Guide our steps, silence our anxieties, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Daily Affirmation

”I do not walk in shame or fear, for the price has been paid. I am a new creation, fully loved and completely forgiven.”
